Questions

Be sure your surface is clean, dry, grease, oil, and wax free. Using a product like mineral spirits, simple green or vinegar water.

One of our favorite cleaners is Simple Green. We use it at full strength. Other household cleaners like Spic and Span, Fantastic, or Mr. Clean that remove grease are also acceptable. Use the rough surface side of a scrubbing sponge for best results. Rinse the surface and allow it to dry thoroughly.
*Some common cleaning products leave a greasy/waxy residue that needs to be removed. ie: Liquid Gold, Pledge, Endust, Lemon Oil and Murphy’s Oil Soap are examples of these. Ordinary household undiluted white vinegar (very eco-friendly) or mineral spirits are terrific for removing wax from a surface. Wipe the surface several times with the vinegar or mineral spirits until you no longer feel a waxy residue.

Using TSP will leave an undesirable Phosphate residue on your surface unless it is rinsed very well. We prefer to use Simple Green or something similar unless your project is greasy and needs the big guns!

BEYOND PAINT® is a thick and very slightly textured product. While it is great at helping to conceal a slightly imperfect surface, existing chipping paint, holes; excessive bumpiness or deep gouges must first be addressed, sanded and/or repaired prior to using BEYOND PAINT®.

You've received your Beyond Paint and are ready to get started! You’ll notice that the gallon arrived to you with a plastic ring to ensure a safe transit. If you are having trouble removing it with your fingers and pulling upwards then you can use needle nose pliers, grip the bottom of the ring and pull upwards until it’s removed. It is not necessary to stir or shake the paint as it is already pre-mixed. Our other products arrive with a foil seal that you can remove with scissors or a knife.

Beyond Paint is water based and mixes like any other paint. When mixing, it is best to begin with your lighter shade and add small amounts of the darker shade, mixing until the desired color is attained. You can also tint Beyond Paint ® with universal water-based tints. This can be done at home or with a local paint store if they are willing to.

Very few coatings come with a food safe label. Our paint products are non-toxic, water based, low VOC and self-sealing.

Beyond paint does not contain lead and only has a minimal odor.

After about two weeks of curing time, your surface would be safe for incidental food contact.

Yes, Beyond Paint can be used with a paint sprayer! BEYOND PAINT works with both HVLP (High volume, low pressure) and airless systems. If using an HVLP sprayer system use a 2.0 or 2.4 nozzle. No need to thin or dilute our paints. Our paint is ready to go to be used with any paint sprayer If you do have trouble getting the paint out of the nozzle, then add a only a few drops of water at a time.

Please consider the following when adding water: Do not exceed a 5-6% volume of water which would equal to about up to 2oz of water per 32oz container. Use distilled, deionized or reverse osmosis type water to eliminate hard water issues. If Beyond Paint is let down too much with water, the product resin solids (glue) is being diluted. You could get to a point where there is not enough “glue”/resin to hold the system as well as provide good abrasion resistance.

Beyond Paint have a mildew-resistant finish which helps inhibit the growth of mildew. While the mildew-resistant finish will help keep mildew growth at bay, it will NOT prevent, or fix the growth of mold, mildew, or other fungi. Painted surfaces in high-moisture spaces, such as bathrooms, or homes in excessively humid climates, should have proper ventilation to help avoid mildew and mold.

Diluting BEYOND PAINT ® is NOT recommended for a less textured finish. Adding water would compromise the integrity of the product's bonding properties. Using less paint and doing an extra coat or two is the best way to achieve a "smoother" finish.

BEYOND PAINT ® has a beautiful Matte sheen.

Yes! Each quart of BEYOND PAINT ®, can be tinted with up to 10% of volume per container with a universal water-based tint.

BEYOND PAINT ® will not accept returns of product that has been tinted.

The best and easiest way to achieve other colors of BEYOND PAINT ® is to intermix our existing colors. This maintains the integrity and properties of BEYOND PAINT ®. It’s simple, get a small disposable cup and try it with small amounts of BEYOND PAINT ® in approximate proportions. For example, in a paper cup with a plastic spoon, mix approximately 1 part (or one spoonful) of Off White with 1 part (Or another spoonful) of Buttercream to make an even softer yellow color.

Orders process within 1-2 business days. After that you will receive an email with your tracking number once it has processed. After that it can take 1-2 days to be packed and picked up by the carrier. All order ship ground from PA so can take 2-5 business days depending on your location.

On average it takes up to 48-72 hours for processing and 4-6 business days for delivery. You will receive a confirmation email with tracking information, once your order is shipped.

Unfortunately, color cards cannot be tracked by us or the recipient because they are shipped via regular postage. Our color cards can take 7-10 days to be delivered depending on your location.

Unfortunately, we do not ship to Canada from our website, but our products are available on Amazon Canada and Walmart Canada for shipping. We are also sold in Kent stores throughout Canada. Kent.ca ships throughout Canada. Please call their corporate office or a local store for assistance.

During extreme weather conditions, we may delay shipping. If you live in a climate with temperatures above 110°F and near or below freezing (32°F), we recommend that you bring your paint inside your home as soon as possible (ideally within the hour of delivery as the paint can freeze!).

If you have provided the incorrect shipping address and it has already been processed and shipped from our facility you will need to contact the carrier before the shipment arrives. They can help you intercept the item and/or return it to the sender. Once it has left our facility we cannot make changes to its address. Rerouting the package to your address will result in additional fees from the carrier on your behalf, so to avoid those please double-check all of the information before submitting your order.

BEYOND PAINT ® will bond to almost any clean, dry, grease, oil, and wax free household surface without sanding stripping or priming! These surfaces include raw wood, or wood painted with oil, latex, polyurethane, varnish, epoxy, etc. Other surfaces including metal, Formica, laminate, plastic, linoleum, masonry, tile, and even glass! We’ve even had customers BEYOND PAINT ® their refrigerators!

You will need to prime MDF prior to painting so that the suface does not absorb all of the paint. We recommend a single coat of an oil-based primer beforehand as part of your prep after cleaning the surface.

Some wood surfaces may bleed and that is not something that you will be aware of until you begin painting. We recommend painting a sample area first and seeing if there is any bleeding. Raw woods such as plywood and bare wood cabinets may cause tannins (which are naturally occurring) to bleed through. If this is the case then an additional primer like Killz or Zinsser which are stain blocking primers.

BEYOND PAINT ® provides a protective coat within its formula. If you’re worried about wear and tear or protecting a heavily used surface like a floor or a daily used table, wait 3-5 days and apply 1-2 coats of our BEYOND PAINT ® Multi-Purpose Sealer. This will give added durability and weather resistance to any indoor/outdoor project. *If you are using our BEYOND PAINT ® Countertop product, our BEYOND PAINT ® Multi-purpose Sealer must be used in conjunction with it.

You do not! That is the beauty of Beyond Paint! It has a built in bonding primer to help it adhere to slick surfaces. Just clean with Zep or simple green to thoroughly remove all surface oils and then you're ready to paint. The first coat may be more difficult to roll on than the others, but once the first coat is applied, the 2nd coat will grip on better and dry to a smooth finish.

Although our products have a sealer in the formula, we have not tested the water levels that our products can hold and for how long. We do not recommend our products be used anywhere where there is standing water as well as an area with extreme direct heat such as a fireplace. We do recommend it on areas around these surfaces. If painting around these areas, we recommend using our Multi-Purpose Sealer for heat and water resistance.

With waxed surfaces, you will need to first lightly sand and then follow proper cleaning technique of using a mineral spirit, a degreaser like simple green or vinegar water to remove any remaining wax or residues. Then we recommend applying the paint to a small area first to ensure that all the wax has been properly removed.

Beyond paint is a water-based Acrylic paint it should be used only over acrylic caulk, only. Allow to dry for 72 hrs before painting. Even if the caulk is dry to the touch, it will still allow moisture to come through. This could cause the paint to crack around the areas that were caulked.

Yes. You can basically paint on anything. It's a good idea to do a test first as sometimes there are preexisting factors that will affect the outcome.

You can! If your previous finish is loose, peeling or chipping, you're going to want to sand away the loose and get a smooth surface. If your previous finish is full of texture, our paint will self-level into that texture. You can sand it smooth for best results. You do not need to strip or sand to bare wood. Once you have the issues address, you're good to Just Clean & Paint!

Yes! You can use BEYOND PAINT ® on your tile floor! Scrub well with Simple Green, rinse and allow drying overnight. Apply 2 coats of BEYOND PAINT ®. Allow the last coat to dry for 2-3 days. Apply 2-3 coats of BEYOND PAINT ® Multi-Purpose Sealer. A painted floor can be a challenging surface. Allowing each layer to dry for prolonged periods and staying off the floor for a few days after the sealer is applied would be ideal!

Yes! You can use BEYOND PAINT ® on your tile walls! Scrub well with Simple Green, rinse and allow drying overnight. Apply 2 coats of BEYOND PAINT ®. Allow the last coat to dry for 2-3 days. Apply 2-3 coats of BEYOND PAINT ® Multi-Purpose Sealer.

After waiting 30 days for your BEYOND PAINT ® surface to fully cure it can be washed with mild soap and water if needed.

This is by far one of the best and most frequently asked questions!
Always do a sample before beginning your project! If you do one kitchen cabinet door or drawer, one leg of your table or even a spare piece of wood FROM START TO FINISH prior to starting your project…you will have confidence and assurance that your project will turn out just as you hoped.

If you’re using BEYOND PAINT ® on a heavily used surface like a floor or your kitchen table, then use our BEYOND PAINT ® Multi-Purpose Sealer as an extra protective topcoat. After your project is dry for 3-5 days, apply 1-2 thin coats of BEYOND PAINT ® Multi-Purpose Sealer. This will give added durability and weather resistance to any project.
*If you are using our BEYOND PAINT ® Countertop product, BEYOND PAINT ® Multi-purpose Sealer must be used in conjunction with it.

Although BEYOND PAINT ® has a sealer within it, if you are not going to have your painted pieces under a covered outdoor area and your piece must hold up under the elements, then apply a coat of BEYOND PAINT ® Multi-Purpose Sealer which is designed to make any piece of furniture suitable for Outdoor use.

We recommend BEYOND PAINT ® Multi-Purpose Sealer over painted surfaces.
If you desire a different sheen, you can purchase a water or solvent-based poly of your choice but make sure it is film-forming and test for success first.

We consider floors and countertops to be the most heavily used projects and would recommend 2-3 thin coats in these instances. If you require extra protection for a heavily used kitchen, dresser top, or coffee table 1 coat is sufficient.

While we can’t account for every paint on the market, BEYOND PAINT ® Multi-Purpose Sealer is beautiful over other paints as well. We always suggest trying a small area first before doing your entire project to ensure success.

No problem! Just wait 3-5 days after BEYOND PAINT ® has dried and apply * your favorite high-quality topcoat in the sheen of your choice that is film-forming. It can be either water-based or solvent-based. We also recommend our BEYOND PAINT ® Multi-purpose Sealer which will slightly increase the sheen of BEYOND PAINT ® to a low level Satin.

*Test any topcoat that is not BEYOND PAINT ® Multi-Purpose Sealer on a small area for sheen and possible yellowing/clouding before doing your entire project.

Shake or stir the Sealer thoroughly. The key to applying the Sealer is THIN coats. Our jar of BEYOND PAINT ® Multi-purpose Sealer really does cover 100 sq. ft. because it is to be applied in thin coats. It provides extreme durability and is engineered so that a little bit goes a long way. If the Sealer is applied too heavily it could result in a cloudy finish especially over dark colors.
Using only a small amount of Sealer, brush into crevices and roll everything else using a 1/4″ nap all-purpose fabric roller.
Allow 2-4 hours drying time before applying your second coat. If a 3rd coat is desired, wait one week after applying your 2nd coat.
HINT: After dipping your roller into BEYOND PAINT ® Multipurpose Sealer wring the roller out on the roller tray to remove as much Sealer as possible.
Then, apply small amounts of what is left on the roller to a few areas of your project before filling in the complete area. This will help avoid putting too much sealer in one place.
ie…I’m painting cabinet doors. I dip the roller into the Sealer and download as much as possible on the tray. Then I roll my roller onto the center of three doors and go back and fill in all three doors with the one dip of Sealer…you don’t need a lot!

Allow the surface to completely dry (this may take up to one week) and the moisture to completely evaporate from the surface.
If the surface is still cloudy, you can apply another coat of BEYOND PAINT ® and repeat the Sealer using a very thin coat.

Yes, you can! We suggest using Liberon wax, which is a once and done and the only wax on the market that is designed to be a hard protective furniture finish. Liberon comes from England and has been around for over 100 years. Liberon dries to a hard furniture finish that does not feel waxy or sticky. It doesn’t have to be periodically reapplied…something that no one wants to do! We have less confidence in some of the synthetic waxes that have newly emerged on the market. We always suggest you try a small area first before doing your entire project to insure success. Thank you for your support and interest in BEYOND PAINT ®!

Dry time for each coat is 2-4 hours on average but allow for increased drying time in humid and cold conditions.

BEYOND PAINT ® will be dry to the touch in 2-4 hours. It is sometimes still sensitive to chipping until it has undergone an initial cure period of 5-7 days. During this period the surface may require minor touch ups. Allow to fully cure for 30 days before routinely washing with soap.

We recommend you store any leftover paint in a cool/ dry place inside your home that is temperature controlled. Because it is a water-based paint it can easily freeze if left in a cold place during cold months. Before storing—make sure that the lids have been closed tightly.

Please refer to your local policies when disposing of paint. Although we are a water-based paint, our product does contain chemicals.

Paint needs several days to cure, and as the temperature dips, dew can form on surfaces and cause the water in the paint to evaporate too slowly. That affects how the paint holds up over time, including how well it resists cracking. Colder temperatures and moisture on the surface can also result in staining or mildew.

Heat affects paint adhesion primarily because it causes the paint to dry too rapidly. Temperatures over 90 F can cause paint to bubble and blister, which results in peeling once the paint cures. ... Allow enough time for the paint to dry to the touch before nighttime temperatures cool enough for dew to form.

Unopened containers of Beyond Paint can be stored for 18 months.
