Today, we're bringing this outdated nightstand into 2024 in just one day, and you're about to learn exactly how easy and fun it can be! So, grab your supplies and let’s dive right into transforming your old furniture with Beyond Paint. Trust me, you’ll love how simple this is.
Step One: Clean That Nightstand!
First things first, let's give this nightstand a good clean using Simple Green. Beyond Paint also recommends Zep Degreaser, or if you want to keep things simple, a vinegar-water mix will do just fine. Why the emphasis on cleaning? It’s because prepping the surface is key to getting the best adhesion. Dirt, grease, and grime need to go before you can get to the fun part. The best news? Beyond Paint doesn’t require any stripping, sanding, or priming. Yes, you heard that right—skip all the boring stuff and jump straight into painting!
Step Two: Let’s Paint
Now that your nightstand is squeaky clean, it's time for the real magic—painting! We're using the stunning color Deep Blue today, which will give this piece a bold, modern look. When you open your Beyond Paint container, you’ll see that it’s tightly sealed to avoid any messes during shipping. This means no spills, no hassle.
Deep Blue is a rich, luxurious shade that easily covers dark wood, so if you're working with a dark-stained nightstand like this one, Beyond Paint has got you covered—literally. For the tricky spots on the drawers, I grabbed my trusty 2-inch brush from the Beyond Paint Toolkit and started stippling away. Then, for the larger flat surfaces, I reached for my microfiber roller.
Using a microfiber roller from the toolkit gives you a smooth, even coat every time, and this first coat is already making a huge difference. The coverage is incredible, and it’s only the first layer! Now, we’re going to let this dry for two to four hours before moving on to the second coat. You’re already halfway there!
Step Three: The Final Touch
Once the first coat has dried, it’s time to apply the second coat of Beyond Paint. The first coat did such an amazing job at covering the glossy wood, and from my experience, you only need two coats of Beyond Paint to get full coverage. That’s right—minimal paint, maximum impact!
While this second coat dries, I’ve decided to give the hardware a quick makeover by spray painting it for a fresh, clean look. This is optional, but it's a great way to tie everything together and give your piece a polished finish.
In Just One Day: A Total Transformation!
After four to five hours of total project time, your nightstand is transformed! With minimal effort, a small amount of paint, and no sanding or priming, you’ve achieved a professional-grade result. Isn’t that satisfying? You now have a fresh, modern piece of furniture that looks like it belongs in 2024!
